Every child is uniquely designed by God, with gifts, sensitivities, strengths, and a purpose that need to be recognized and nurtured. For Christian parents, the responsibility goes beyond simply raising well-behaved children. It means creating a home where the presence of God is normal, where children learn to hear His voice, understand who He created them to be, and grow in wisdom, confidence, emotional health, and spiritual maturity.
In Cultivating a Prophetic Child – Level 1, Pastors Mike and Christine Cowen draw from their own experience raising three daughters to share the biblical principles and practical wisdom they’ve learned along the way. This course will help you parent more intentionally, understand your child more deeply, and partner with the Holy Spirit as you nurture the life and purpose God has placed within them.
Session 1: Developing a Child’s Prophetic Potential
Learn how to recognize and cultivate what God has placed within your child without forcing them into a particular mold. This session explores the prophetic mandate upon the next generation, the importance of spiritually contending for your children, and how to make prayer, Scripture, ministry, and the things of God a natural part of everyday family life.
Session 2: Wisdom, Spiritual Awareness, and Tender Safety
Discover how to look beyond behavior and seek God for wisdom concerning your child. You will learn how patterns can reveal needs, gifts, or struggles, how to guide spiritually sensitive children through experiences they may not understand, and how to create a home marked by tender safety, correction, love, and restoration.
Session 3: Teaching Emotional and Spiritual Discernment
Children need more than rules—they need tools. This session will help you teach your child to recognize and process emotions biblically, communicate what they are experiencing, and understand what may be driving difficult behavior. You will also learn how to help them distinguish between God’s voice, the enemy’s lies, and their own thoughts and emotions.
Session 4: Creating Outlets for Gifts, Creativity, and Service
Learn how to create healthy opportunities for your child’s gifts, creativity, interests, and spiritual sensitivity to develop. This session also helps parents recognize where personal fears or expectations may unintentionally place limits on a child, while showing how practical experience, responsibility, and service can help reveal what God has placed within them.
Session 5: Consistency, Safety, and Never Giving Up
Even children raised in strong Christian homes can go through difficult seasons. This session offers encouragement for staying prayerful, consistent, connected, and grounded in truth when your child is struggling. You will also learn how to maintain a safe relationship, preserve connection without compromise, and follow the Holy Spirit concerning when to intervene and when to give space.
Cultivate What God Has Placed Within Them
You do not have to have every answer to raise a child who knows God and grows into the person He created them to be. But you can become more intentional about the atmosphere you create, the questions you ask, the tools you provide, and the way you respond in every season.
Cultivating a Prophetic Child – Level 1 will help you move beyond simply managing behavior and begin cultivating the whole child—spiritually, emotionally, and practically.
Because the goal is not to control what God has placed within your child.
It is to cultivate it.
This course includes five video sessions, a downloadable study and application guide, and is worth one credit hour towards a Warrior Notes School of Ministry degree.
